De band SuffiX heeft zich zaterdagavond in Ex-Voto te Voorhout als eerste geplaatst voor de finale van de Popprijs Holland Rijnland. SuffiX gaat op 7 juli in de finale in jongerencentrum Scum strijden om de hoofdprijs, bestaande uit drie dagen studiotijd bij The Box Records in Katwijk voor de opnames van een cd, bandmanagement door Gasoline Concerts en nog veel meer.
De avond in Ex-Voto werd geopend door de Noordwijkse band Skretsh. Deze jonge band wist ons te verleiden met de rauwe zang van hun jonge zangeres met hier en daar een stevige grunt. Daarna was het de beurt aan Incease. Met nummers die het publiek graag hoorde, afwisselend met instrumentale stukken werd het een boeiende hardrock avond waarop menige headbanger zich in de zevende hemel waande. De derde en laatste band van de avond was SuffiX. Met een overload aan energie wisten ze het publiek iedere seconde te vermaken met hun metal/hardrock songs. De energetische leadzanger was een lust voor het oog en had daarmee al snel de jury en het publiek om de vinger gewonden. Gitaardocent Evert Millenaar drukte de band dan ook op het hart ‘’Houd deze sfeer vast qua peformance!!’’. Al met al een overtuigende winnaar van deze eerste voorronde.
Als tweede van deze voorronde is Incease geëindigd, de band gaat door naar de halve finale. Zij zullen zich nog een keer moeten bewijzen in de halve finale op zaterdag 2 juni in Static te Lisse met drie andere (nu nog onbekende) bands.
De volgende voorronde van de Popprijs vindt plaats op zaterdag 21 april in jongerencentrum Splotsz te Roelofarendsveen. Hier zullen de bands Red oak Tree, Colt Nevada en Hooked spelen om een plek in de finale.
De Popprijs Holland Rijnland wordt dit jaar voor de tweede keer georganiseerd door Factor Welzijn een zes jongerencentra uit de regio.
