Zaterdag 25 augustus, de dag waarop er zoveel regen werd voorspelt, als we normaal in een maand zouden hebben. Ook de dag waarop Oranjerock werd gehouden. En dat hebben we geweten! Regen, zon, doorweekte mensen, blote schouders en voeten in regenlaarzen: alles was aanwezig.
Coldplayer trapte om 12 uur af en zette een gave show neer met goeie covers. Ik heb me zelfs laten vertellen dat de zanger van Coldplayer een pruik heeft laten verwezen in zijn haar om zo meer op Chris Martin van de echte Coldplay te lijken!
Ondertussen gingen de regenbuien op en af, maar dat leek het publiek niet te deren, want rond 2 uur begon het aardig vol te stromen!
Daarna was het de beurt aan The Crowns, die vorig jaar nog 3FM serious talent zijn geworden. Mensen in het publiek zongen lekker mee en de sfeer kwam er langzaam maar zeker goed in.
Toen was het toch echt wel tijd voor dé band van de dag: Splendid! Hier hebben mensen nog heel lang over nagepraat. Want ondanks alle enorme regenbuien maakte de zomerse muziek van Splendid een zonnetje doen schijnen over alle mensen! Of je nu kon dansen of niet, je voeten gingen vanzelf van de vloer.
De laatste band van de middag waren de mannen van Rattlesnake Shake, die toch wel een heel ander soort muziek maakten dan Splendid. Met covers van Rammstein en Metallica ontstond er een flinke moshpit vanuit het publiek vooraan, waar mensen bij Splendid met elkaar gingen dansen.
Al met al geeft de redactie van Oranjerock een dikke 8! Want ieder jaar is het, weer of geen weer, toch echt wel weer een feestje!
