Olympisch zwemmer Nick Driebergen uit Rijnsburg heeft vandaag in zwembad Aquamar een overeenkomst ondertekent met wethouder Willem van Duijn van de gemeente. De samenwerking moet volgend jaar, het jaar van de Olympische Spelen, zorgen dat de jeugd wordt geïnspireerd om te gaan sporten.
Win-Win situatie
Sport zorgt voor maatschappelijke verbinding en is gezond. Voor zowel Nick als de gemeente is de samenwerking een win-win situatie. De gemeente helpt Nick bij het realiseren van zijn Olympische droom, het behalen van een medaille op de Olympische spelen in Londen 2012.
Als tegenprestatie gaat Nick volgend jaar, het jaar van de olympische spelen, de jeugd inspireren om meer te bewegen en gezonder te leven. Nick kan een positief voorbeeld geven aan jongeren over sport en bewegen met hieraangekoppeld gezondheid. Voorbeelden van de tegenprestatie kunnen zijn:
1. Zwemtraining geven
2. Bij scholen langs praten over gezond eten en sporten
3. Eigen verhaal vertellen aan jongeren
De samenwerking mag echter niet zijn trainingsschema belemmeren dus wordt er een goede planning gemaakt.
Op 4 augustus 2012 zal Nick zijn eerste wedstrijd zwemmen op de estafette. Daarnaast heeft hij zich gekwalificeerd voor de 100 meter rugslag en de 4x 100 meter wisselslag. Voor de 200 meter moet hij zich nog kwalificeren.
Nick doet een opleiding Commerciele Economie op een school speciaal voor Topsporters. Hierdoor heeft hij langer de tijd om zijn diploma te halen, want zwemmen is uiteraard het belangrijkste en dit vergt veel tijd. Nick traint meer dan 2x 2uur per dag en heeft een speciaal trainingsschema, samengesteld door zijn trainer. De trainer houdt dit schema goed in de gaten.
Op de vraag “Streef je ernaar om zowieso twee keer aan de Olympische Spelen meegedaan te hebben” zegt Nick dat hij dat op zich wel wil maar de vraag is of hij dan nog goed presteert. Hij wil natuurlijk zo hoog mogelijk scoren en als dit niet meer gaat, omdat hij te oud is, dan houdt het op. Twee Olympische Spelen verder betekent dat Nick richting de 30 gaat. Dat is op zich redelijk oud.
Wat Nick na zijn zwemcarriere wil doen is nog niet helemaal duidelijk. Zelf zegt hij als grapje:”Ze zoeken toch nog een nieuwe voorzitter bij Ajax?” Maar eigenlijk houdt hij zich er nog niet zo mee bezig.
